WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKS PREVIOUS PROJECTS

  
  Culmore WwTW - Upgrading of existing works and provision of secondary treatment and sludge treatment facilities.  
  Client: DRD Water Service.

Dawson-WAM were responsible for the design and construction of all civil and building works required for the provision of secondary treatment at the existing wastewater treatment works at Culmore, with design sub-contracted to Hyder Consulting, and Process/M&E Design and construction by Black & Veatch Contracting Ltd. Electrical services installation by MD Electrical Installations Ltd.

The project consists of:
• Overall project value £16million.
• Electrical services installation value £620,000.00
• Construction in reinforced concrete of a 78 x 66 x 5.5m deep Activated Sludge Tank, 6No 23m dia. hopper-bottomed Final Settlement Tanks, and a 95 x 33 x 4.75m deep Storm Retention Tank.
• Construction of the Sludge De-watering Building, a structural steel portal framed structure with profiled steel cladding and roof, and brick faced concrete block outer walls, founded on a reinforced concrete base slab, floor area some 760 m2.
• Associated minor structures, earthworks, site access road and service construction



The Process electrical services installation consisted of:
• Incoming Supply Upgrade
• Standby Generator Replacement
• Design, supply, install, terminate and test power, control, instrumentation and communication cabling
• Distribution Systems Upgrade
• Supply and install local isolators, and local control stations c/w emergency stops
• Instrumentation Replacement and Installation of free issue instrumentation

The Building services installation consisted of:
• Complete installation of sub-mains distribution, and sub-mains cabling
• Design, supply, and install the complete interior, exterior lighting and emergency lighting installation.
• Complete socket outlet and general purpose power installation
• Complete low voltage socket installation
• Complete electrical heating installation
• Complete intruder alarm installation
• Design, supply, installation and testing of complete earthing system
• Fire alarm installation
• CCTV System
• Telephone / data cabling
• Supply and installation of gas alarm system


  
  Mountjoy WwTW – New Build.  
  Client: DRD Water Service.

Charles Brands were responsible for the design and construction of all civil and building works required for the provision of a new wastewater treatment works for Omagh comprising of primary, secondary, and sludge treatment works at the new site in Mountjoy, and the demolition of the existing primary, secondary, storm and sludge treatment works and landscaping. With the design sub-contracted to Atkins, and Process/M&E Design and construction by Purac Ltd. Electrical services installation by MD Electrical Installations Ltd.

Project Scope:
• Overall value £8.5million
• Process electrical services installation value £240,000.00
• The Scheme is to provide wastewater treatment for a total pop. equiv. of 47,200 and for sludge imports of 90 m3/d for a design horizon of 2030.
• The outline scope of works is the detailed design, construction, equipment manufacture, supply, installation, commissioning and management assistance of a new wastewater treatment works and associated ancillary works.

  Fofanny WTW - Construction of a new underground Water Treatment Works at Fofanny Dam Reservoir

Farrans were responsible for the design and construction of all civil and building works required for the provision of a new water treatment works at Fofanny Dam Reservoir, with design sub-contracted to McAdams Design Consulting, and Process/M&E Design and construction by EarthTech Engineering Ltd. Electrical services installation by MD Electrical Installations Ltd.

Project Scope:
• Overall value £15.7million
• Electrical services installation value £563,000.00
• Construction of a new underground Water Treatment Works at Fofanny Dam Reservoir.
• Works include demolition of the existing Fofannybane Treatment Works
• Construction of 7ml clearwater tank
• 14 km of underground pipe work
